An 82 year old Florida homeowner shot and killed an armed, masked man trying to break into his home. The gun used is described as a “Russian World War II Gun”. The robber was a career criminal responsible for multiple robberies in the area.

The suspected robber was described as a 24 year old man armed with what could have been several lethal weapons. I wonder if this senior citizen would have been able to effectively defend himself without a firearm, even though the suspect did not have a gun himself?

Good shooting sir! The Wehrmacht could give plenty of supporting testomony to the lethality of the Tokarev.

Yes. The 6.62×25 Tokarev round will certainly stop any bad guy. I have two of them.

This Soviet handgun is either a TT-30 or TT-33 Russian Tokarev
chambered in 7.62×25. Not only was the Tokarev standard issue
for Soviet Red Army officers, but likewise was extensively
employed by the NKVD as an execution weapon. It likewise also
saw extensive use following World War II (1939-1945) via both
the Korean War (1950-1953) and Vietnam War (1961-1975). Thus the
Tok was deployed by Red Chinese, North Korean, and North Vietnamese
forces. The TT-30/TT-33 Tokarev was a modified Colt/Browning design
which officially replaced the older 7.62mm Model 1895 Russian Nagant
revolver; the Nagant was of Belgian design. Despite this Nagant
revolvers continued in production as not enough Toks were available.
