We normally try to stick to recent stories, but this is a good one, so we wanted to share it.

Note, this story happened in 1990.

Kevin T. Kemp approached a woman in CA, wrapped a canvas strap around her neck from behind and began to drag her into seclusion with the apparent intent to rape her.

Fortunately, this woman was the wrong target. The woman reached into her purse, drew a .22 caliber pistol and fired over her shoulder as she was being dragged across the ground. One of the rounds she fired struck Kemp in the stomach. He ceased all rape related activities at that time and stumbled away, calling for help.

Kemp collapsed nearby and later died of his wounds at an area hospital.

This story was brought to our attention because Kemp’s DNA was recently tied to the murder of a prostitute, also in 1990. It seems Kemp was a bad man and might still be on the streets today if not for the actions of a brave woman with a concealed .22.
