A resident in Akron, OH says two men in ski masks approached his car in a parking lot. One of the men opened his passenger door and pointed a gun at him.

Fortunately the resident is a concealed carry permit holder in Ohio and drew his own gun.

Upon seeing that they were facing an armed victim, the pair of would be robbers fled.

This is a great example of a gun being used in self defense where no shots were fired.

This is also a prime example of why it’s important to keep your car doors locked at all times when you’re in the vehicle.

Fail. Improper use of weapon. These people will just move on to the next victim, possibly harming them due to fear aquired in this incident. Never pull your weapon unless you are prepared to use it.

I dont understand why you all are saying this was improper use of his gin…I mean who said that he wasnt prepared to use it? Plus the robbers ran away..he would be in the wrong to shoot them from behind.. so I feel that he did the right thing! What was he gonna do? Wait to be shot or pistol whipped by them & robbed??

What they are saying is don’t wait to be pistol whipped or shot. The person opened his car door and pointed a gun at him. If he was going to pull his own gun then he should have shot this person for threatening his life with a gun. You can’t wait if you are going to pull a gun. There are so many thugs out there that would have immediately opened fire on him as soon as they saw him pulling his gun and he may be dead right now. That is what they are saying when they say he improperly used his gun.

I didn’t see anyplace that says he wasn’t ready to use it. Job was done and it was a success– he stopped the threat. Maybe the perps will attack someone else but thats speculation. Who said he wouldn’t have shot if they pressed the attack?

If you were in his place and would’ve fired, fine. That’s your call.

Frank, I agree 100%, if someone is next to your car pointing a gun at you, & you draw your weapon because you fear for your safety, you damn well better be ready, willing, & able to use your weapon!!!!!

I think its great he didn’t have to kill someone. You people obviously have not taken a ccw class. You use your weapon to show that you’re prepared, if they advance you then shoot. You all think its easy to take someones life. It is not, and not only that its an emotional burden. You’re always thinking of it. Take the class, and prepare yourself before you make a poor decision.

Morons. This guy was obviously ready to use the weapon, but didn’t need to. You guys want people shot that don’t need to be to get a point. This is what is wrong with the country. Fail? Because he didn’t HAVE to shoot someone. I call IDIOT on these two commenters. Now we blame the conceal/carry person for causing fear in the would be robbers? How about now they may think twice before attempting to rob someone because they too might have a gun……..

Saying It was improper use of gun is the reason why we are called idiots, retrogrades and plain dumb. What kind of a moron are you to think the only way to use your gun is to kill someone??? Have you even read the law? Understand the consequences and what it means??? You my friend are no different than the crooks and should not be allowed to carry. PERFECT use of gun, display of self control and responsibility. He achieved the primary goal. Should the threat continue, empty your clip.

I hate to be selfish, but I carry my firearm to protect myself and my family from being harmed by criminals. My job is not to protect the rest of society from said criminals its to protect myself. If that happens in the process then so be it, but if me drawing my weapon scares off an assailant, good enough for me. I’m not itching to kill anyone.

Its retarded comments like that – that have people thinking we’re all Rambo killers that shoot for getting our brand knew pair of Jordans stepped on!! What makes you not think that criminal didn’t crap his pants enough to go looking for a pastor for guidance or something to get out of that life……how many stories haven’t I heard of criminals running in fear after hearing only the sound of a pump shotgun racking!!! Plenty….Get a life, pleeeease!!!

Don’t judge whether a CCW determines to use deadly force. He’s alive. To decide to shoot someone that might rob someone else is saying that he is judge and jury instead of defending himself.
