My hats off to the policeman.
So they have a “resources officer” now? I’m actually glad the kids aren’t sitting ducks as much
When I was a PeaceKeeper on an Island( can not divolge which one ) we had ” gardeners” at the base. They never did any gardening. I can tell you it was very comforting to know we had gardeners as we were unarmed Peacekeepers. Food for thought Dave.
I work part-time off duty as a school resource officer and have for about three years. I don’t know why more schools don’t do the same thing. They call us “resource” officers because besides from being at the school to respond in seconds to any major incident they have us interact with the kids and build trust with them. That way if there is anything going on at home they can feel safer about coming to us or if they hear something about a student bringing a gun to school or drugs a lot of times they will give us an anonymous tip in passing. I think it is a really great program and happy to see this incident ended well.
