1024px-SuppressorsIn today’s poll we are talking about one of the most commonly purchased NFA items out there – sound suppressors (aka silencers).

Currently, in order to purchase a suppressor, you must fill out ATF paperwork, pay a $200 tax and wait months for approval before being allowed to take your new accessory home.

You also have to get approval from your local chief law enforcement officer, unless you purchase the device through a trust or corporation. However, possible new ATF regulations currently in the works may remove that option, meaning even more Americans will not have access to these devices.

In many countries, even in countries with strict gun control, suppressors are treated like a piece of hardware and are readily available.

Most calibers, especially rifle calibers and any supersonic handgun caliber is still pretty loud, even with a suppressor. The main advantage in most cases is hearing protection.

We want to know what you think about the issue.
