The NRA has announced that its Friends of the NRA fundraising program has raised $51 million so far in 2013.
This is $1 million more than all of 2012, and there are still 200 events over the next 3 months in which the NRA can smash the 2012 record.
According to WTVR6,
“The success of this year’s Friends of NRA banquets would not have been possible without the hard work of our incredibly dedicated volunteers and attendees,” said Sarah Budi, Director of Volunteer Fundraising in a statement. “Our success is a direct result of their efforts and the reason 2013 has been a record breaking year. Thanks to our supporters, the future continues to look bright for the shooting sports.”
The program has grossed $51 million in 2013, one million dollars more than last year, the NRA announced. There are more than 200 fundraising events left in 2013.
It should also be noted that these funds are in addition to funds the NRA raises through its annual membership dues of its 5,000,000+ members.
The announcement of the fundraising success comes on the heels of a big year for the gun industry and gun rights.
When it’s all said and done 2013 will certainly far surpass all previous years sales records for firearms.
According to Charles C.W. Cooke of the National Review,
Nine out of the ten busiest weeks for the National Instant Criminal Background Checks System in its 15-year history were in 2013; concealed-carry permit applications are going through the roof across the country; and fifteen states have weakened their gun restrictions since January 1st.
This year also marks the first time sitting state legislators were recalled for their pro gun control stance when John Morse and Angela Giron were recalled in Colorado earlier this month.
If so many Americans support new gun control laws how is the NRA having such a stellar fundraising year, politicians are being recalled for being anti-gun, and more states are loosening gun laws rather than tightening them?
