user29216-1382499729-media1According to CBS News, hundreds of people are rallying outside of a courthouse in California to protest the shooting of a 13 year old boy last week.

The boy was walking down the street carrying a toy AK-47 rifle (pictured) when he was shot and killed by police.

It was revealed this week that the police officer who pulled the trigger was a veteran officer with over 20 years experience and was an expert firearms instructor.

According to CBS,

The protest’s organizer, who would not give his real name, said people from as far away as Los Angeles and Davis would be there. There were reports that Occupy Oakland protestors would also be on hand, which makes Sonoma County Sheriff Steve Freitas nervous.

Freitas said all of the previous protests have been peaceful.

The shooting is being investigated by the FBI, police and prosecutors.

Based on evidence photos, it appears the toy’s barrel was broken off, which would have resulted in the orange colored tip, typically required on toy guns, being removed.
