BREAKING: Anti-Gun Colorado State Senator Evie Hudak, Facing Recall, Resigns
Breaking news out of Colorado, anti-gun state senator Evie Hudak has resigned.
By resigning, Hudak insures that a Democrat can be appointed to replace her. Her resignation will allow Democrats to keep their 18-17 majority in the state senate.
Back in September 2 other anti-gun state senators, John Morse and Angela Giron, were both recalled and replaced with Republicans. There was talk that they might also take the resignation route, but they decided to fight the recall and lost.
According to the Denver Post, Hudak issued the following statement,
“By resigning I am protecting these important new laws for the good of Colorado and ensuring that we can continue looking forward,” Hudak wrote in her resignation letter in regard to her gun votes, which led to the recall effort.
Hudak was a staunch supporter of the strict gun control laws passed earlier this year in Colorado.
Hudak also famously told a young, female gun activist, who wanted to carry a gun for protection against sexual assault that a gun would do her no good in protecting her from a rape and she was more likely to have the gun used against her in a sexual assault (see video below).
