Screen Shot 2014-01-09 at 11.56.05 AMCarolyn McCarthy, the vehement anti-gunner congresswoman from New York, will NOT seek reelection in 2014.

According to reports, the 70 year old lawmaker will not seek reelection in order to undergo treatment for lung cancer.

I would never wish cancer upon my worst enemy, but I won’t lie, I will be happy to see this anti-freedom lawmaker out of Congress. I hope she has a healthy retirement, far, far away from politics.

McCarthy said the following in a statement,

“I have decided not to seek re-election to the United States Congress in 2014,” McCarthy said in a statement. “I am forever grateful to my constituents for giving me the privilege of representing them in Congress for the past 18 years. As I plan for the next chapter of my life, I look forward to resuming my role as a citizen activist for the causes and principles that are so close to my heart.”

You might remember McCarthy from her statements made during the 1994-2004 federal assault weapons ban. In the interview below, McCarthy didn’t know what a barrel shroud was even though it was one of the “evil” features she wanted to ban from certain guns.

McCarthy famously said a barrel shroud was “the shoulder thing that goes up”.
