Got to get hands on with the new Ruger GP-100 Match Champion and the new LCRx revolvers at SHOT Show’s Media Day at the Range on Monday.

Ruger also has a couple of the LC380’s which are now available with factory fitted Crimson Trace or Lasermax lasers.

It seems that Ruger has been focusing on refining their current line of handguns over the last year rather than expanding into lines of guns. Nothing wrong with that and the results are actually pretty good.

I’m not going to address the LC380 except to say that it has a very long reset. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I wasn’t expecting when shooting it in the video and I did short stroke it a couple of times. This was my first time shooting the LC380 and I do think I like the slightly larger size over the LCP.

The clear winner for me was the Match Champion GP-100. Great trigger, comfortable stocks and the same tank of a gun that you’re used to. This is one that is on my personal purchase radar.

The LCRx we already previewed when it was announced. Nothing revolutionary here, but a lot of people have been asking for an exposed hammer LCR for a while.

I was initially concerned that changing the hammer may affect that smooth double action trigger of the LCR. However, I didn’t notice any difference in trigger pull from the LCRx over the LCR. I’d probably still go for the standard LCR for LCRx for the better carry profile shape, but I’m sure the LCRx will be a winner.

Ruger also had a full line of hunting and a few tactical rifles, but I ran out of time and didn’t get a chance to spend any range time with those.
