I’ve seen this video posted on social media several times now, so I thought I’d post it here for discussion.

The round is a lightweight (96gr), high velocity, fragmenting round. Yeah, we’ve seen quite a few variations of this in the past.

The video makes some pretty bold claims that look good on paper and ballistics gel, but how does it perform in real world conditions? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Personally, I usually carry the heaviest round that reliably works with my gun in whatever caliber I happen to be using. Most of the premium ammo offerings from the big ammo makers meet the penetration and expansion stats that I’m looking for.

I just feel like if high velocity, low weight, fragmenting rounds were the holy grail of self defense ammo, everyone would already be carrying them.

Also, and maybe this is just the pessimist in me, but all I see when those little “trocars” start flying off the bullet is a bunch of little lawsuits waiting to happen of one bounces off of something and takes out a bystander’s eye.

According to some vendors I’ve talked to, these will run over $2.00 per round. Spendy, especially when you consider that most instructors recommend firing at least 100-200 rounds of your carry ammo through your carry gun to check for reliable functionality. With the aggressive profile these bullets have, I’d definitely want to make sure they fed reliably in my gun.

What do you guys think? Will you be rushing to order some of these, or is it just another fad?
