Confirmation That ARES Defense SCR Rifle Does Take AR Uppers and Will Be Released Next Week

Last week we first told you about the Ares Defense (note, that’s Defense, not Armor), SCR rifle. All we had was a short video and a teaser photo from the ARES Facebook page, but now we have actual confirmation that the rifle will be released next week at the NRA Shows.

The rifle had some pretty cool features. It uses a patented lower that accepts standard AR-15 upper receivers. It is presumed that the recoil system works similarly to many semi auto shotguns where the bolt carrier group actually goes back into the stock at an angle. This might mean you would have to use ARES’ BCG with your upper receiver, should you switch it out.

All in all, it’s a pretty good option for gun control states to have an AR style rifle that isn’t subject to registration, etc.
