The Marine Corps Times is reporting that Colt Defense has been awarded a contract to supply some units of the Marine Corps with a new version of the 1911 pistol. Called the M45 Close Quarter Battle Pistol, this new version features an accessory rail, utilizes an 80 series firing pin setup, dual recoil spring assembly, and is finished in a very durable, desert tan Cercoat finish. The contract is worth $22.5 million and Colt will provide thousands of the pistols of the next 4 years.

Over 100 years later the 1911 is still going strong.
