I really don’t like knocking products without trying them so I’m not going to do that here. I’m going to let you guys decide if this product is a good idea or not. Sooo – disclaimer, I do own and carry Glocks and I have not tried this product yet.

The product we’re talking about here is the SAFE-DRAW Passive Safety for Glock handguns. There is no question that Glocks are some of the most popular home defense and concealed carry handguns on the market (regardless of what your opinion on them may be).

One knock that the Glock gets is the lack of an external safety (other than the one on the trigger). This product seeks to address that issue (if you consider it an issue).

The product is an add-on device for Glock pistols that increases the pull weight on the first shot of the gun by either 6 or 17lbs.

It does this by providing extra resistance as you pull the trigger. As far as I can tell, these are one use products, which means you won’t be able to test the actual device you will be trusting your life to (you can always test one and toss it to see if you like it).

All in all, not sure how I feel about this. I like to think that quality holsters as well as sound handling techniques are the best safety. I’m also not a fan of anything that could impede your firearm in a defensive situation.
