Is that the only base plate for a shield magazine? Do they make a flush plate magazine or pinky extensions like the compacts?

Thats the extended pinky mag that comes with the gun. There is a flush base plate and the +1 round mag in the box from what I have seen and read.

On a personal side note I went to Academy after work today to get one of those Shields and they were sold out. But I was told that the Company has ordered a group of the .40 version and the po was dated last week and they should be receiving them in the next couple weeks. My local store only got 3 of the 9mm in and sold them in the first couple days.
Soooo having some funds and not being able to get what I wanted I filled the need by getting a Ruger Mark III and 1600 rounds of CCI Mini mags and a sling for my Mossberg and another Glock mag and .......yep thats it for this trip

Yeah after asking the question I poked around on the other forums where there's 500 threads about the Shield. I finally found a pic of a flush fit mag...

I wonder how long until we see a 45 version? I wouldn't mind a 40 version for that matter, but there's a full sized M&P in line before a shield on my want list.

Yes, that's correct. The gun fits it's job as a ccw, and it shoots okay, but has a gritty trigger and the break is not that clean. Overall it's a good buy however.

If you are looking for a shield size gun in .45, check out SA and their XD-S. If SA comes out with a single stack XDM in either 9mm or .40, I would sell this shield in a minute.
