That is exactly my dilemma. I can't push too hard, but need to keep constant pressure to make sure we are moving in the right direction.

Good luck, sir. It took a hooded stranger in all black rattling our front door knob at 11:00 in the evening to finally convince my wife. She carriers everywhere now.

School and college campus carry is illegal here...this includes pepper sprays and such too. While my wife and I were still just dating, she was on campus and had an attempt made on her. He hosed him in the face with the jet stream wasp spray stuff I had helped her pick out as a legal alternative. She blinded him permanently in one eye and he has chemical burns on his face. Once she and I were living together, it was easy for her to be used to me carrying every day. Usually it takes being a victim for people to realize they are on their own.

I never took the move toward self defense until i had a Beretta M9 (or a 92.. didnt see if it would decock) pointed at my head with me on my knees in a bank parking lot.

We had a similar incident 8 or 9 months before my wife got her CWP. However, I think she always "got it." Her father is a retired sheriff's deputy, and I retired from the Marine Corps about four years ago. We married at the ripe old age of 19, almost 24 years ago. Anyway, firearms have never been mysterious and scary, just something less than a priority. Until our security alarm went off one night. The front door was open, so we figure we left it unlocked and a would-be robber was scared off by the alarm system. Since I have to go out of town sometimes, my wife decided she should get her own gun and learn to shoot it. Wasn't long til she wanted a carry permit too. We go to the range together two or three times a month now, usually with one or more of our five kids. And it all started with a security alarm waking us at 2AM.

If I have clothes on and I'm somewhere its legal I've got at least one handgun on me, normally my Glock 23 with a reload and occasionally my Taurus 651 as a bug. When I'm home I take the AR out of the safe and set it by my bed (which has a holster attached as well for my Glock). We have some knives/swords scattered around and my room mates both have their GWLs and usually have a handgun on/near them as well. Admittedly none of us have kids so we don't have that to worry about
