Gun carrying man ends stabbing spree

    SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith's store.

    Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon. Smith's employee Dorothy Espinoza says, "He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people."...

    I read this story the day it came out, before I saw it here. The article says updates will be provided as details are available, but they don't seem to have anything more yet. Nothing about the victims, or attacker's name, possible motive, the gun owner who stopped the attack, etc. Anyone seen an update on this yet?

    The mainstream media will clamp down on this story, because it does not fit the "guns are bad" narrative.

    ... or perhaps an even more pressing question; why wasn't there a "Knives Prohibited" sign on the door of the store? That would've kept him from even entering! ;)

    Prime example why CCW holders are necessary... Because, as mark5019 so aptly pointed out, those of us in law enforcement can't be everywhere we are needed at once.. And I wholeheartedly Polynikes - a sign establishing a knife-free zone would likely have prevented this tragedy :)
