Concealed Carry clothing line freaks out NY Times readers

    They've closed down the comments section on the article, but it's still interesting to read some of the more paranoid reactions. The main point of many of them is that too much private gun ownership can only return us to the lawless era of the Old West, with shootouts in the streets, blah-blah-blah.

    Of course the obvious reply is to request the evidence to support such paranoia, because concealed carry is on the rise--sharply--but violent crime is not. Where concealed carry and general gun ownership is least common, violent crime is higher. Too many people have academic, theoretical arguments with little consideration or true knowledge of human nature, and far too little regard for the individual freedoms which made this country great.

    (I considered placing this post in the 2A section, but it doesn't relate to any pending legislation, court cases, or other law enforcement measures relating to the Second Amendment.)

    These same tired arguments about "old west" gunfights and blood in the streets have not been played out in any city where citizens are able to exercise their 2A rights. Hysterics are no match for observable evidence.
