WE’RE WINNING: Poll Shows Support for Gun Rights at All Time High, Gun Control at All Time Low

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – we’re winning.

Despite the anti-gun slant of the national media and despite the fact that Democrats had a stranglehold on the federal government from 2008-2012, gun rights have held their own in most places in the country and have actually expanded in many other places (a few anti-gun strongholds aside).

A recent Pew Research Poll shows that not only are laws consistently going in the favor of gun rights, but so is general public perception.

For the first time in the history of the Pew gun control poll, more people are concerned with protecting the right to own guns than gun control.

According to the poll, 52% of respondents say they support protecting gun rights while only 46% of respondents say they support controlling gun ownership.

Following Sandy Hook and the big gun control push following it, those numbers were flipped. However, even in recent years, when more people say they support gun control, those numbers have been far closer than in the past.

Back in the 90’s, gun control was winning this poll by almost a 2-1 margin.

Like I said, we’re winning. However, now is not the time to become complacent. Continue to remain involved in your state’s gun rights organizations and continue to follow politics and legislation at the national level. This is a fight that will sadly never be over.
