[Video] Coffee Shop Arms Baristas Following Multiple Robberies
As you probably already know the largest coffee shop chain in the country, Starbucks, famously issued a public letter asking its patrons to please leave their guns at home (but not specifically forbidding them).
It seems that a local coffee shop in Spokane, WA is taking the exact opposite approach of their corporate competition. Several of Jitterz Java baristas will now be packing sidearms following three robberies at the shop.
According to KXLY,
Jitterz Java owner Sara Chapel is encouraging her staff members not only to bring their guns, but she’s keeping one in the stand just in case.
“I would rather have it and need it, than need it and not have it,” Krystal Cogswell said.
Order a drink and you may find yourself looking at Krystal Cogswell’s .38 Special Lavender Lady secured to her hip. She’s one of the half dozen employees arming themselves in case of another robbery.
“Before I never felt an immediate threat, so I would just have it off to the side or somewhere hidden. But now I feel like if someone can see it, maybe it will just deter it right then and there and I won’t ever have to use it,” she explained.
The store has recently seen three instances in which they were robbed by armed suspects. It seems that Sara Chapel is joining the ranks of millions of other Americans and refusing to be a victim.
As we all know, police can rarely ever stop a robbery, assault or murder. Their job is to investigate those crimes after the fact. The only way those crimes can be effectively prevented is by an armed citizen.
