Danny Jones, Mayor of Charleston West Virginia apparently thinks if a law abiding gun owner gets within a certain number of feet of a municipal building that there is bound to be a mass shooting.

Jones argued with State Senate Majority Leader John Unger (D) about a bill that strengthened state preemption on gun carry laws.

The bill basically prevents a local city from prohibiting the carry of firearms in certain municipal buildings and clarifies the enforcement of those laws.

The mayor gets pretty heated. You have to wonder what exactly the mayor thinks is going to happen if more law abiding citizens can carry in more places.

The mayor even accuses the Democratic senator of being a pawn of the NRA (he hit all of the anti-gun politician talking points).

Personally, I would have liked to have seen the WV state legislature remove even more off limits locations for carry and gotten the state closer to where it should be in regards to carry laws.

Jones is a member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Perhaps he could learn a thing or two from Forest Park, GA mayor, David Lockhart.

If the newscaster looks familiar, that’s because this isn’t his first foray into gun debates on his show. Bray Cary became a viral video star when Keith Morgan, president of the West Virginia Citizens Defense League schooled him in a debate on guns on the same show.
