Rick Perry has publicly stated that he supports concealed carry for teachers in response to school shootings.

Texas already allows teachers to carry guns in some districts, and has for some time.

Perry says local school boards should be able to make their own decisions on the issue.

Perry also called for level heads following the senseless tragedy in Connecticut.

“One of the things that I hope we don’t see from our federal government is this knee-jerk reaction from Washington, D.C., when there is an event that occurs, that they come in and they think they know the answer,” he said.
