Due to Chicago’s rampant violent crime rate, including one of the worst murder rates in the country, Chicago police will no longer respond in person to reports of vehicle theft, garage burglary or simple assault.

The change is hoped to free up with Chicago’s growing violent crime problem.

Reports for the crimes listed above will be taken over the phone.

Chicago and the state of Illinois have some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. There is not yet any way for private citizens to legally carry firearms for protection there.

Gun bans invite the criminal element. Why wouldn’t they live in Chicago, where they have no fear of their disarmed victims.
