Moms Demand Action Stages ANOTHER Starbucks Boycott
According to numerous media reports, the anti gun group, Moms Demand Action, is staging yet another boycott of Starbucks this Saturday.
The groups has already called on anti-gun supporters to avoid their coffee chain.
Starbucks has a corporate policy of allowing customers to carry guns in all of their stores where allowed by law.
Even in states in which Starbucks could legally (but not effectively) ban guns from their store with signs, they do not. Starbucks will also not ask open carriers to leave where open carry is legal.
This policy of following local laws ruffles Moms Demand Action’s feathers so they are designating this Saturday as skip Starbucks day.
We’ve already promoted two Gun Owners Starbucks Appreciation days this year, so we’re not going to do another one, but if you want to annoy Moms Demand Action feel free to swing by a Starbucks this weekend.
Note, this is more about showing up an anti-gun group than it is supporting Starbucks, so just remember that if you disagree with some of Starbuck’s other policies.
According to USA Today,
“Many moms are unaware that if they take their children to Starbucks, their children may be standing next to a customer who has a loaded weapon,” says Shannon Watts, founder of the non-profit group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. She says the group hopes to gather 25,000 signatures to ban guns at all U.S. Starbucks stores. She hopes to personally present the signatures to Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.
I have never understood why Starbucks has been singled out by these groups. There are numerous chain restaurants, department stores, and other businesses who have the exact same policy of following local laws.
