Mom Uses Mossberg She Received For Mother’s Day to Shoot Home Invader & Defend Her Family
Sometimes the best Mother’s Day present is a 12 gauge pump action shotgun.
An Oklahoma mother used a 12 gauge shotgun that she said she received as a mother’s day gift to shoot and wound a would be home invader.
The woman’s daughter was also at home, and when she heard someone trying to break in, her maternal instincts kicked in.
According to KOCO,
“I have a daughter that’s handicapped and she was asleep on the bottom floor,” Kouba said. “And so for the fear of her being hurt, motherly instincts kick in and, you know, I worked hard for what I’ve got. And you’re not going to come and take it away from me.”
Kouba said she grabbed the gun her son gave her for Mother’s Day and ran out the front door to confront the intruder out back.
The mother shot the intruder once in the buttocks, and he became entangled in an electric fence as he ran away, leaving a blood trail behind him. Unfortunately, police were not able to apprehend the suspect, but are confident he will end up at a local hospital.
Generally speaking, I prefer home defense shotguns with a real butt-stock on them, but in this case it looks like the compact, pistol grip model did the job it needed to do.
This incident is the one of the most common types of defensive gun uses. That is, one in which no one was killed. Despite this being one of the most common types of defensive gun uses, these incidents are often not included in statistics about defensive gun uses. Many of these statistics and studies focus solely on justifiable homicides, which represent only a fraction of total defensive gun uses.
