Anti gun advocates would have us believe that fewer guns in private hands would reduce violent crime. If that is the case Chicago, IL should be one of the least violent places in the United States.

iStock_000017129805XSmallChicago has some of the strictest gun control laws on the books anywhere in the United States.

However, for some unexplainable reason, 17 people were shot in Chicago over the holiday weekend, and at least 6 of those were fatally shot, including a 6 month old girl.

Logic tells us that criminals will set up shop where they are least likely to encounter resistance from their victims, armed or otherwise. This means cities like Chicago, where guns are so highly controlled that very few potential victims are armed, are the perfect places for criminals to operate without fear of resistance.

If you think this crime is limited to “bad” areas of the city, you’d be wrong. One of the shootings occurred near President Obama’s Chicago home.

When they have no reason to fear the general populace, criminals become emboldened and become even more violent.

This is why we fight gun control, so the rest of the country won’t turn into Chicago.
