magpulMagpul has already moved most of their massive magazine making operation out of the state of Colorado, as they promised they would if expanded background legislation was signed into law (it was). However, the company, not one for fading quietly into the night, decided to go out with a bang.

Just two days before a magazine ban went into effect in the state of Colorado, which would make it illegal to buy/sell/trade magazines that can hold over 15 rounds, Magpul flooded the state of Colorado with 20,000 of their 30 round, standard capacity AR-15 magazines.

An estimated 5,000 people lined up to get the magazines, the first 1,500 of which were given out for free and the rest were discounted.

According to the Washington Times, supporters aimed to send a message to Denver.

“We’ve come to stock up … but we’re also here to send a loud, friggin’ clear message to the politicians of this state: Colorado belongs to us and not to [New York Mayor] Michael Bloomberg,” said Kelly Maher, spokeswoman for Free Colorado, which organized the festival…

…The loudest boos at Saturday’s festival, which featured music, beer and barbecue in addition to a slate of crowd-rousing speakers, were reserved for Mr. Hickenlooper, who faces re-election in 2014.

“Did he take your call? You know whose call he took? He took a call from the mayor of New York City,” said Republican state Sen. Greg Brophy. “I guarantee you Gov. Hickenlooper will listen to that when you bounce him out of office and bring freedom back to Colorado.”

Both the mayor and the state legislator have taken heat for pushing the gun control measures through. In fact, two state senators, including the senate president, are facing recall elections in which they will have to defend their seats in a special election.

Yet another “kudos” to Magpul for doing things right!
