List of Pro Second Amendment Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (110+)

January 22 2013
from → Blog

submit to reddit        Pin It
sheriff

The following sheriffs have all allegedly taken some action to help uphold the Second Amendment in the face of possible new gun legislation.

Almost all have said they will not take place in order sort of future gun confiscation of any kind and some say they will refuse to enforce ANY new gun laws. Some have signed letters written by their state’s sheriff’s association. Some have pulled their office’s business from anti Second Amendment businesses.

We have not independently verified all of these, but all are based on third party reports. If a sheriff is listed here that should not be, or if you would like to be added to the list, Contact Us and we’ll get it updated.

Sorry if a name is in the list twice. We’re getting new additions pretty often and we’re still working on cleaning it up.

And there is not one sheriff from Illinois on the list, yet many have run as conservative Republicans. There is one States’ Attorney in the state that has said he won’t prosecute concealed carry cases as Illinois is the only state in the nation to not have CCW. Chicago politicians (one of the leaders in crime and murder) just can’t see the forest because of all the trees. Fools.

I sent an email that begin with praise for a job well done and a plea to consider joining the growing list of law enforcement personal that are taking a stand to Will County sheriff Paul Kaupas. He has not joined any official list but did reply with “I support the 2nd amendment and the entire Constitution”

I’d be happy to email my letter to any one that requests it if you’d like to change the sheriff name and and send it to YOUR local sheriff.

We need to get and stay involved!

Please add Tom Sheahan to this list from Mohave County Arizona.

The Sheriff believes in the Second Amendment as it was written and its intent.

The Sheriff does not and will never support any legislation that attempts to restrict magazine capacity and does not support any type of “assault weapon” ban.

Additionally he will not support any unlawful confiscation of firearms from law abiding citizens which violates the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. The Sheriff is a firm believer in the stance taken by the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Both the State of Texas and Wyoming have announced legislative initiatives to lawfully ban any State, County, or local law enforcement officials from enforcing any gun ban or confiscation executed by executive order.
This would also include banning any Federal officer from doing so within their respective state borders as well.

I call total BS. You can be for gun regulations, of which we already have many, without being against the Second Amendment. These sheriffs aren’t pro-Second Amendment, they’re pro-their interpretation of it.

And the meaning of the Second Amendment has evolved through decades of Supreme Court decisions. It’s not up to some rural sheriff running for re-election to decide what it means. For god’s sake, it’s not about pro and anti. It’s about how to keep guns away from criminals.

“You can be for gun regulations, of which we already have many, without being against the Second Amendment”

Actually, you cannot. Shall not be infringed.

Most of us consider the current gun laws violations of the Second Amendment.

      • Gato permalink
        January 22, 2013 9:49 PM EDT

Umm, you left out a big part of the 2nd amendment: There is “well-regulated.” And there is “militia.” Both of which indicate restrictions.

There’s also the founder’s original intent, which was to let people take their muskets home, instead of keeping them in a central location. There’s the fact that the right to bear arms is already infringed: You cannot own a missile, for example.

And there’s the crucial fact that when two rights collide, the broader right wins. That’s why you can’t shout fire in a crowded theater. In this case, the supposed right to bear arms is colliding with people’s right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There’s a whole lot of elementary school children whose right to live outweighs your right not to fill out a form or have a background check. So it’s time to show some patriotism and make a small sacrifice so we Americans and our children can have better lives.

          @Gato
I woud sacrifice my life for those kids and did put it on the line for 21 years in the military, so don’t talk to me about sacrifice. You are interpreting the 2nd just like you accuss these fine up standing Sheriffs of doing, so get over your own fears and volunteer in these schools to at least be a hall monitor. You Probably can muster the courage for that since you won’t stand for all American’s rights.

          February 2, 2013 12:53 PM EDT

The term “regulated” means “disciplined” or “trained”.[122] In Heller, the U.S. Supreme Court stated that “[t]he adjective ‘well-regulated’ implies nothing more than the imposition of proper discipline and training.”[123]

We’ve all read the 2nd – and in plain (early 1800′s late 1700′s) English it’s clear what is meant. You can still get a copy of Noah Webster’s 1828 dictionary if needed…

What we really need here is to realize that enough is never enough – the tyranny of democracy fears the independent and able Citizen. And nothing makes a Citizen more able than firearms. More able to defend and protect that is, more able to resist and stand up. Since the at least 1930′s, human Rights have been under fire in America. What needs to be done is that Federal infringements on our basic human Right need to be either repealed at the federal level, or (much more likely) blocked at the State. And any State that attempts to block federal infringements, but continues to infringe itself, is not doing it’s Citizens any favors, to be kind.

Arizona is doing well so far – not only recognizing it’s Citizen’s Right to keep and bear arms, but now working on blocking federal infringement. More states need to follow Arizona’s lead here I think.
