Several states, namely Colorado, New York, Maryland, and Connecticut have recently passed more restrictive gun control laws.
In response to this, and in anticipation of further legislation, several companies are or are planning to move their operations out of anti gun states and into pro gun states.
The company that started this whole movement was AR-15 magazine maker, Magpul, who also produces accessories for the popular AR-15 platform of rifles.
The company strongly lobbied the Colorado legislature not to pass restrictive gun control laws or they would be forced to leave the state and take hundreds of jobs with them.
When the Colorado governor signed into a law a bill that would ban the very magazines that Magpul creates, they announced they would be packing their bags.
According to DenverPost.com,
Ammunition magazine manufacturer Magpul Industries said it plans to begin leaving Colorado “almost immediately,” and other firms may follow suit in the wake of a new law that limits ammunition magazine capacities.
“Our moving efforts are underway,” Magpul chief operating officer Doug Smith said Wednesday. “Within the next 30 days we will manufacture our first magazine outside the state of Colorado.”
