New Jersey Governor Chris Christie finally weighed in on the magazine bill that seems sure to pass the state legislature in the immediate future.

The bill will lower the number of rounds a magazine can hold from 15 (under current NJ magazine laws) to 10. Currently, it looks like there will not be a grandfather clause and residents will have a grace period to get rid of their magazines or risk breaking the law.

Another bill, which supposedly eases restrictions on transporting guns was drafted without help from pro-second amendment groups and is seen by virtually no gun owner as a real benefit, especially when you take into account the magazine restrictions.

The big question is, will Christie, technically a Republican, sign the bill into law. Well, the governor finally weighed in on the issue during an interview with New Jersey 101.5.

The big answer – he doesn’t know. Christie said he cannot give an answer until the bill hits his desk because the legislature can still make changes to the bill before its passed.

That’s the wrong answer Mr Governor. The correct answer would be something along the lines of “I will veto any bill that infringes on the rights of New Jersey’s law abiding gun owners.”

Christie, who is considering a presidential run in 2016, will have absolutely no chance of winning without the support of gun owners, and in my opinion, by not speaking out against this bill outright I think the damage is already done.
