Last month, we reported a story about a couple in the UK who were arrested after shooting 2 burglars with a legally owned shotgun.

Fortunately, in a rare bit of common sense from the UK, the couple was released shortly thereafter.

Just recently the pair of burglars who were shot were having their day in court (criminal court must move pretty quickly in the UK).

The pair asked the judge to consider the fact that they were shot in hopes he would give them a lighter sentence.

The judge told the pair, “Being shot is a chance you take.”

The judge went on you say, “I make it plain that, in my judgment, being shot is not mitigation. If you burgle a house in the country where the householder owns a legally held shotgun, that is the chance you take. You cannot come to court and ask for a lighter sentence because of it.”

Maybe we can see more of this trend in the UK in the future.
