There has been some question on whether the presence of several semi automatic rifes at Dianne Feinstein’s press conference this morning, where she unveiled her proposed “assault weapons” ban, was legal.

The weapons in question are all already illegal to possess in Washington D.C. and are also illegal to bring into the Capital building.

Senator Feinstein told the Daily Caller that the weapons were taken from police evidence and were under police control at all times which apparently made the move legal.

She said she coordinated with DC and Capital police on the display.

We weren’t aware that the police could give a free pass to violate laws, but hey, I guess we’re not important enough to get free passes like that.
