Clueless WI Democrats Want to Ban ‘Military’ Hollow Point Ammo, Which Would Ban Rifle Hunting in WI

Oh clueless, anti gun lawmakers, where do I start on this one.
According to MediaTrackers.org, A Democratic state senator and three Democratic state representatives have circulated draft legislation that would ban civilian possession of hollow point or frangible ammunition. According to existing Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources regulations, sportsmen and women in Wisconsin must use such ammunition when hunting deer or bear. The Democratic lawmakers, two of whom are freshman, all hail from urban districts in the City of Milwaukee.
According to Media Trackers the following was in an email from the lawmakers about the bill, “While used by the military for decades – in part because they inflict massive wounds – hollowpoint bullets have little, if any, practical use for self-defense or hunting in everyday society. Tragically, they are essentially human-killing bullets.”
First off, in many states expanding (soft point, hollow point, etc) ammo is required for hunting primarily because it minimizes over penetration of the animal which ensures a safer hunting environment for all. FMJ (aka ball) ammo tends to penetrate much more than expanding ammo.
Second, expanding ammo is also recommended for self defense for the same reasons. If you have to defend yourself in public or your home, you don’t want a full metal jacket round to over penetrate your target and hit an innocent bystander.
Third, to counter the quote from the lawmakers email, the military does not, and is not allowed to use hollow point ammo due to the Hague Declaration of 1899 Declaration III (Laws of War). However, many people do think this practice is outdated as expanding ammunition can reduce the chance of over penetration and subsequently unintentional casualties (the same reason it’s required for hunting in most states).
So, there you have it, WI Democrats essentially want to ban hunting, make self defense less safe, and apparently have no idea how the military operates.

No surprises here…
But Teflon coated bullets would be ok?
Teflon is used for some cookware that you cook meat in, so bullets coated in it must be used for hunting, right?
It is the classic problem of people trying to legislate what they have done no research about. If you asked the legislator, they probably believe they are banning the “evil” parts of guns and being very reasonable and accommodating towards legal gun owners who must be using their guns to hunt.
But anyone who tells them they’re wrong is obviously part of the “fringe” who they imagine want the “assault weapons” to “seem tough” until our kid decides to go on killing sprees with it.
At it’s heart, this is an issue of no middle ground. The guns that people use for crime are always going to tend to be the most commonly available – the entry level guns. The ones that are hardest to ban. So anyone who knows what they’re talking about is opposed to gun bans, and anyone who favors gun bans thinks it’s just us being “uncompromising”, when they’re really missing the point.
Thank you for publicizing this. I would not call them “clueless.” This has all been very systematically designed, according to a plan, nationwide. That is what central planners do.
They most likely do not hunt. Remember they’re from Milwaukee.
You just can’t make this stuff up! Oh well, as Ron White said…”you can’t fix stupid”!
Democrats are stupid , thanks for voting for them everybody mainly because you all think your getting free healthcare and now their going after the little things , retards
We need to take our country back….
How in the name of our LJCOS how did Feinstein become so powerful? This is coming right out of her manifesto! Ever since Reid said he won’t allow her bill to be presented on the Senate floor of the federal government, every state democrat is introducing her bills in their entirety at the state level. Oh well, if they want a civil war, then bring it on! (What ever happen to tarred and feathered?)
Everything in the article is correct except for one thing, the US never signed the Hague Convention of 1899 and although the US military rarely uses hollow point bullets, they can. But yes, hollow and soft point bullets were designed for hunting and soft point handgun bullets were designed for self defense since most major countries had already signed the Hague Convention and did not use them in their military and are hollow points more recently used to prevent over penetration in a self defense encounter to better ensure public safety. Fully jacketted bullets are better able to penetrate police body armour, so ironically if they were knowledgeable and sincere, they would ONLY allow soft point and hollow point bullets.
Ignoramus! with these kind of politicians you have in the US nowdays, it seems clear the downfall of a great nation. Obviously too the voters are unintelligent, educational system in the US is at its lowest.
Typical.
Only one correction… per the Law of Armed Conflict… The US military does not use hollow point ammunition.
