“George Zimmerman got away with murder, but you can’t get away from God. And at the end of the day, he’s going to have a lot of questions and answers he has to deal with,” Maddy said. “[But] the law couldn’t prove it,” said juror B29 to ABC News in a recent interview.

The juror, identified only as Maddy, also said he wanted to initially convict Zimmerman of Second Degree murder during jury deliberations.

“I was the juror that was going to give them the hung jury. I fought to the end,” she said.

However, after examining all of the evidence, the jury found there was no way Zimmerman could be convicted.

According to ABC, she also said,

“That’s where I felt confused, where if a person kills someone, then you get charged for it,” Maddy said. “But as the law was read to me, if you have no proof that he killed him intentionally, you can’t say he’s guilty.”

Zimmerman was acquitted of both Second Degree murder and manslaughter almost 2 weeks ago by an all female, Flordia jury. The verdict has sparked nationwide protests, some turning violent.

The case has also caused several Democratic politicians to speak out on “stand your ground” self defense laws. Stand your ground laws require no duty to retreat before resorting to deadly force when you are the victim of a crime.

While Zimmerman did not argue a stand your ground defense, the jury was instructed on the statute in the jury instructions.
