BREAKING: Reid to Officially Shelve Gun Control Legislation for Time Being
CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash is reporting that Harry Reid will shelve the current Senate gun control bill.
Reid can still bring the measure back up if and when he feels he has the votes to pass the legislation or an amended version of it.
The most likely future amendment would be along the lines of the Toomey-Manchin agreement which failed to pass a Senate vote yesterday.
In a procedural vote, Reid changed his vote to be against the legislation at the last minute in order to be able to bring it back up for a vote again under Senate rules which only allow members of a losing vote to bring legislation up for reconsideration.
