Anti Gun Commercial Recreates Zimmerman/Martin Shooting and Uses Real 911 Calls
If I was George Zimmerman I’d probably be considering by legal options against the folks who made the above video.
The video released by the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, shows a life-like recreation of events in the 2012 shooting.
At the end of the video there are numerous so called “victims” laying on the ground, supposedly to represent states which have stand your ground self defense laws.
Following Zimmerman’s acquittal of the 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin by a jury (who found Zimmerman acted in self defense), Florida’s Stand Your Ground law has become a topic of debate.
The law, which requires no duty to retreat from a threat, is criticized by opponents as encouraging a “shoot first” mentality.
Proponents of the law say it protects people who defend themselves from becoming the targets of overzealous prosecution or civil cases.
Also, like most anti-gun videos posted to Youtube, comments and ratings have been disabled for the video.
Also this week, a group who was staging a 31 day sit-in at the Florida state capitol to protest the law packed up their bags and went home.
