ANOTHER Shooting at a Jack in the Box Restaurant Just 9 Days After Gun Ban Decision
Here we go again, we have yet another armed robbery attempt and shooting at a Jack in the Box restaurant. This time it happened at a Houston, TX area Jack in the Box.
According to KHOU,
It looks like a male in his early 20s was robbed outside and shot in the arm during the crime, deputies said. He was treated at the scene, and right now, it’s not clear if he was the target or if the suspect was trying to rob the restaurant as well.
Jack in the Box finds itself the most recent corporation to have to weigh in on the open carry debate following a demonstration at a Texas Jack in the Box.
Anti-gun activist group Moms Demand Action pressured the restaurant chain to ban guns in their restaurants following the demonstration. The company took a soft-line approach, issuing the following statement,
Creating a warm and inviting environment for all of our guests and employees is a top priority for Jack in the Box. The presence of guns inside a restaurant could create an uncomfortable situation for our guests and employees and lead to unintended consequences. While we respect the rights of all our guests, we would prefer that guests not bring their guns inside our restaurants.
– Jack in the Box VP of Corporate Communications Brian Luscomb
Earlier this week Chipotle issued a similar statement to Jack in the Box following another open carry demonstration in Texas.
