Here we go again, more anti-gun hysteria in our schools.

In this case we have a 5 year old, yes a 5 year old, child who was forced to sign a contract saying that she would not commit suicide or harm anyone at the school because she drew a picture of something that resembled a gun in school.

According to local media outlet, KSN,

“They told me she drew something that resembled a gun. According to them she pointed a crayon at another student and said ‘pew pew’,” Rebecca [the girl’s mother] explained.

Rebecca says her daughter was then given a questionnaire to evaluate her for suicidal thoughts and given a Mobile County Public School safety contract to sign stating she wouldn’t kill herself or others.

“While I was in the lobby waiting, they had my 5-year-old sign a contract about suicide and homicide,” Rebecca says. “There should be a different way to handle this situation. If this is protocol it needs to be looked at again.”

The girl’s mother said that her daughter likely didn’t understand the point of the contract and most of the wording on it.

The school has requested that the girl see a psychiatrist, but her parents are refusing and pushing to get the incident removed from the girl’s academic record.

This is just the latest example of the zero tolerance hysteria which has swept our nation’s schools.
